New School Named Pearre Creek Elementary

Published December 17, 2009

The new elementary school located in west Franklin will be called Pearre (pronounced Perry) Creek Elementary School.  The naming committee chose Pearre Creek as a way of paying homage to one of Williamson County's founding families, and the Williamson County Board of Education approved the name at its December 14 meeting.

The name Pearre refers to Revolutionary War veteran Joshua Pearre who moved with his family to Tennessee in the early 1800's.  For generations, his family lived in the area where the Westhaven subdivision now sits.  They eventually sold the real estate to Southern Land Company which donated the 14 acres for the new school.

Pearre Creek Elementary School is scheduled to open in August, 2010.  It will initially serve 300-450 students.
