Heritage Middle School Interim Principal Frank Brown is now the new principal of Centennial High School following the resignation of Dr. Terry Shrader. Shrader announced last month he is leaving Williamson County Schools to return to his roots at Hillsboro High School in Metro.
Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney says Brown's experience will serve him well at Centennial. “Frank has spent most of his career in the high school setting as a teacher, coach and administrator,” said Looney. "He has established himself as a strong leader who can unite students, parents and staff to make Centennial among the best high schools in the state."
Brown started his career in education in 1992 teaching and coaching. He taught biology, physical science, chemistry or algebra at Stratford, Lavergne, and McGavock high schools between 1992 and 2001. He also coached baseball and football. Brown served as assistant principal at Glencliff High School from December, 2001 to 2005 and as assistant principal of Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet from 2005 to 2006. He came to Williamson County in 2007 as an assistant principal at Independence High. Brown has been at Heritage Middle for the past three years.
“I am very excited about the opportunity to work with such a high-quality school and school community that has a reputation for a talented, caring and diverse student body and a high performing, cohesive faculty and staff,” said Brown. “I know I will miss the incredible students, community, faculty and staff at Heritage, but I look forward to continuing the high level of success and work that has been the standard and example of Dr. Shrader.”
Brown earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in biology and education from Freed-Hardeman in 1991; his Masters in educational leadership from Trevecca Nazarene University in 1998; and he should complete his doctorate from Trevecca in August. He began his new responsibilities June 1.
