More Schools Switch to Online Payment System

Published February 18, 2010

Over 700 parents have signed up to use the new online cafeteria prepayment system now available at five Williamson County schools.

Parents at Brentwood High, Brentwood Middle, Hunters Bend Elementary, Trinity Elementary and Walnut Grove Elementary are now able to make secure online prepayments to their child’s lunch account, access balances and transaction history, and have automatic low-balance e-mail reminders sent to them.

More schools will be added to this list every week and parents will be notified by a letter when their child’s school is activated. The three additional schools that are planned to be activated by February 19 are Crockett Elementary, Lipscomb Elementary and Woodland Middle.

Williamson County Schools Food Service Director James Remete says he has been pleased with the new system and hopes to have it up and running at every school in the district by April 1.

"We are very happy with it," said Remete. "The system is working the way it's supposed to and we haven't had any glitches."

Not only is MyNutrikids.com helpful to parents, but teachers and students also benefit from the online prepayment system. According to officials, teachers no longer have to waste valuable instructional time gathering, organizing and sending lunch money to the cafeteria, and children have more time to enjoy their meal because the lines move more quickly.

MyNutrikids.com is a free service except for a small transaction fee when money is transferred. Parents can create an account by logging onto MyNutrikids.com and following the user-friendly prompts. Parents will need each child’s full ID number as opposed to just the PIN number that the children use in the cafeteria.
