Local Students Qualify for National Jump Rope Tournament

Several Williamson County students will compete this summer in a national jump rope competition.  They are all members of the wildly popular Hot Shots Jump Rope team, which is comprised of 61 students - in grades three through eight - from Hunters Bend Elementary and Grassland Middle schools.

Last month, nearly two dozen team members took part in the USA Regional Jump Rope competition in Cleveland, Ohio.  They competed in a number of events including single rope speed jumping, double dutch speed relay and pairs freestyle.  Many of them did well enough to qualify for the USA National Jump Rope Tournament which will be held this summer in Galveston, Texas, and broadcast on Fox Sports.

"I am so proud of my jumpers," said Hot Shots Coach Lisa Arnold.  "This is a very hard region to compete in.  Many of the jumpers in this region have more experience than our students and have won several national titles."

Congratulations to the following students who qualified to compete in the USA National Jump Rope Tournament in Galveston, Texas:

  • Jacob Ferguson - Single Rope Speed

  • James Hallock - Single Rope Speed, Single Relay Speed & Double Dutch Pairs Speed

  • Jeff Beaudin - Single Rope Speed, Single Relay Speed & Double Dutch Speed

  • Lynn Ferguson - Single Rope Speed, Single Relay Speed & Freestyle

  • Allison Bumm, Jenna Beaudin, Kathryn Hallock and Brooke Harden - Single Rope Relay Speed
  • Ally Coady, Rachel Calhoun, Ashley Vance and Alexis Burgos - Single Rope Relay Speed
  • Amanda Wehby - Single Rope Freestyle

In addition, the following students qualified to compete in the Galveston Lone Star National Classic:

  • Sydney Grace - Single Speed

  • Ally Coady - Single Speed

  • Allison Bumm - Single Speed

  • Sarah Harden, Haley Welch, Jenna Yates and Nikayla Haynes - Single Relay Speed

  • Madison Miller, Sydney Grace, Kortney Katina, and Jacob Ferguson - Single Relay Speed

  • Sydney Grace, Amanda Wehby and Kortney Katina - Double Dutch Speed Relay

  • Ashley Vance, Jacob Ferguson and  Sarah Harden - Double Dutch Speed Relay

  • Amanda Wehby and McCallie Miller - Pairs Freestyle

  • Jacob Ferguson and Shelly Ferguson - Mixed Pairs Freestyle

  • Brooke Harden and Alexis Burgos - Pairs Freestyle

  • Brooke Harden, Kathryn Hallock and Ally Coady - Double Dutch Freestyle
