Lipscomb Students Turn Fall Party Into Time of Service
Published December 3, 2009
Each year, elementary classrooms across the district celebrate the arrival of Fall Break with a party. The events are typically filled with treats, games and a craft or two. However, the third graders at Lipscomb Elementary School in Brentwood did something a bit different this year.
The children put together over 90 jars of bean soup mix, complete with five different kinds of beans, spices and instructions. Each jar of soup will feed a family of six to eight and while the kids supplied the elbow grease, generous Lipscomb parents donated the mixings.
The jars were distributed to Bridges of Williamson County with assistance from Graceworks, giving each student the satisfaction of knowing their hard work helped to provide dinner for over 90 families in Williamson County.
