Kids On Stage Summer Academy

Published March 18, 2010

What do Miley Cyrus, Ke$ha and members of the rock band Paramore have in common? They're all graduates of the Kids On Stage Summer Academy program, which is held annually at Hillsboro School in Leiper's Fork.

Williamson County Schools is once again a sponsor of this special event, which has been offering classes in the visual, performing and technical arts since 1997.

Students at Summer Academy take four classes each week for one or two week sessions. They learn how to create and present art gallery shows, as well as theater, dance and music performances.

In addition, the Hillsboro gym will be transformed into a state-of-the-art performance venue, thanks to the annual donation of more than $2.5 million in sound, light, video equipment and staging from some of the most respected concert production companies in the world.

Instructors for Kids On Stage Summer Academy include a who's who of award-winning actors, songwriters, directors, musicians, dancers and some of the very best art and technology instructors from Williamson County Schools.

The cost is $220 for one week and $420 for two weeks. Several discounts are available for siblings and early registration (deadline for early registration discount is April 1). Spaces fill quickly so be sure to apply for Kids On Stage Academy as soon as possible.
