Franklin High Celebrates 100 Years-4521

Published April 15, 2010

Franklin High School will mark a major milestone this weekend as it celebrates 100 years of excellence. The school will host a special ceremony and open house Sunday, April 18, at 2 p.m. to celebrate the school's centennial anniversary.

The community is invited to take tours of the school and view a 30-minute video about the history of Franklin High School.

The video was produced by students in Franklin High School's Media Production Department and features interviews with more than 50 alumni and faculty. A newly published book about the school's history will also be available for sale at the event.

Organizers hope the centennial anniversary will give former students and faculty a chance to reflect on their time at Franklin High and the role it played in their life.

"Franklin High School is a long standing pillar of this community and has made a great contribution to Williamson County," said Franklin High School's Helen Gatlin. "It only seems right for us to celebrate our past while embracing our future."

Some current students at Franklin High School will also play a role in the centennial anniversary. The school's art department will unveil a set of murals Sunday depicting the decades of Franklin, and members of the music department will perform.
