District Hires New Educators

Published July 30, 2009

A new crop of teachers will join the more than 2,000 educators in Williamson County schools.  So far, the district has hired 118 educators, 38 percent of whom are new to the teaching profession.  On August 4 and 5, the teachers who are new to the district will gather at Franklin High School for New Teacher Orientation.  During that time they will learn all about the district's beliefs, goals and expectations.

Several schools across the district will also welcome new assistant principals this school year.  Edward Knight was hired as an assistant principal at Independence High School, Karen Caldwell will serve as the assistant principal at Hunters Bend Elementary School, Brandon Barkley is the new assistant principal at Brentwood Middle and Trina Shelton will serve as assistant principal at Trinity Elementary School.

Carol Garrett will serve as an assistant principal at Nolensville Elementary School, Cindy Davis is the new assistant principal for both Westwood and Fairview Elementary Schools and Tracy Bullard is the new assistant principal at Fairview Elementary.  These assistant principals were hired to serve students with special education needs.  The positions were funded with federal stimulus money for two years.

Former Westwood and Fairview Elementary School Assistant Principal Chad Walker will now serve as an AP at Hunters Bend Elementary School, Andrea Guzak will move from assistant principal at Hunters Bend to Oak View Elementary School and Ann Marie Schulz will no longer have to split her time between Oak View Elementary and Lipscomb Elementary.  Schulz is now the full-time assistant principal at Lipscomb Elementary School.
