Director of Schools Signs Contract

He won't officially begin until December 1 but that's not stopping Mike Looney from getting a head start as the district's newly named Director of Schools. In just the last two weeks, Looney has already made two trips to Williamson County.
On September 21, Looney was on hand as the Board of Education approved his contract at its monthly meeting. That same week, Looney spent time getting to know administrators and central office personnel. He addressed principals at a meeting in Franklin and told them he looks forward to working with them in the future.
Looney will continue to visit the district over the course of the next two months as he finishes his responsibilities as the Superintendent of the Butler County School District in Greenville, Alabama. He says it's important to go ahead and begin the process of meeting with board members, principals and district leaders so that they can continue to accelerate the learning and the advancement of the district.
"While I officially will not begin work until December 1, 2009, I have made several trips to the district in order to listen and to learn," said Looney. "Thus far, I have been particularly pleased with the knowledge, commitment and enthusiasm of district and local school leaders. It is obvious the team is a strong one. I believe we are going to do good things together".
