Crockett Students Donate Gifts to Hospital
Published April 15, 2010
Third graders at Crockett Elementary School are hoping to bring some comfort to patients at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital.
Last month, the students began making Just for Me packets which will be distributed to children at the hospital who have undergone surgery or spent time in the emergency room.
Each packet is filled with a coloring book, crayons and stickers. Some of the third graders even decorated the envelopes with encouraging messages and illustrations.
The Just For Me packets are in memory of Anna Gooden, a former patient at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital. Organizers hope the project will not only help some of the patients at the hospital through a difficult time, but also teach the students at Crockett about the importance of giving back to the community.
