College Grove Elementary has a new principal. Kari Miller will join the school sometime in May. WCS Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney made the announcement March 26. Miller will replace Dr. Melonye Lowe who is the new principal for Allendale.
Miller is currently the principal of the Buena Vista Arts-Integrated Magnet School in the Ontario-Montclair School District in Irvine, California. She has served as principal there for the past two years. She has worked in the education field since 1994 as an elementary teacher and then program facilitator.
"Not only does Kari have a wide range of teaching and administrative experience, but she has an enthusiasm for education that is contagious," said Looney. "Her philosophy of education and leadership make her a perfect fit for Williamson County Schools and for College Grove."
Miller and her family will be making the cross-country move. "Not only am I excited about this opportunity, but my husband and children are as well," said Miller. "We want to live in the College Grove area and be part of the community, and I can't wait to meet the teachers and staff and the parents and students."
Miller said that during her interview visit to Williamson County she spent some time visiting the schools her children will attend. "I even went to the Page High freshman football meeting," said Miller. "My oldest son will attend Page High; my middle son will attend Page Middle; and my daughter will attend College Grove with me."
Miller received her Master's in Education from Pepperdine University; she received her Bachelor's in Planning and Development from the University of Southern California.
