Classified Employees of the Year

Williamson County Schools honored its Classified Employees of the Year April 22 at a ceremony in Franklin. The district employs approximately a thousand classified employees, which include everyone from teacher assistants to maintenance workers to school bus drivers.
Employees were nominated for the honor by their individual school or department. Of those who were nominated, a selection committee chose a winner for the elementary, middle and high school grade levels.
Grassland Elementary School Teacher Assistant Marilyn Williams won the elementary school Employee of the Year Award; Fairview Middle School Secretary Jan King won the middle school award; and Independence High School Secretary Kim Montrose won the award at the high school level.
Before the awards were handed out, Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney addressed the crowd, telling those in attendance that classified employees are the district's unsung heroes. "Your work is so important to the boys and girls and the adults that work in this district," said Looney. "I appreciate what you do every single day."
