Brentwood High Students Impress Judges at Art Competition

Published December 3, 2009

Brentwood High School is home to dozens of talented artists. That talent was recently on display at the annual Middle Tennessee Regional Student Art Exhibition. Now in its second year, the contest was created as a way to offer middle and high school students the opportunity to display their talents and to be honored for their accomplishments.

Categories for the competition include ceramic, drawing, digital imagery, mixed media, painting, computer graphics, sculpture, traditional photography and printmaking. Over 400 artworks were entered in the competition from which the jurors accepted 170 for inclusion. Of the 170 pieces accepted for inclusion, Brentwood High School students had 45.

Brentwood High School senior Jenna Hiebert won Best of Show at the competition and will receive a purchase award of $500.

In addition, her artwork will appear on a Nashville billboard and become part of the permanent collection of The Renaissance Center in Dickson. Jenna's teacher, Barbara Bullard, will also receive a gift certificate from Plaza Artists Materials and Picture Framing.

To see the actual artwork, you can attend the art exhibition at the Renaissance Center in Dickson through December 18.
