2009-2010 WCS Budget

Published July 30, 2009

The Williamson County Commission unanimously passed the district's $212.7 million General Purpose Budget at its July 13 meeting, with no tax increase to its residents.  The tax rate was maintained at $1.20 per $100 of taxable property on property located within the school district.  The 2009-2010 budget provides for growth of approximately 1,200 expected new students district-wide.  The district did not open any new schools this year; however two elementary schools and one middle school will be added next year.

Williamson County Schools Interim Director Dr. David Heath credits WCS staff with helping to reduce costs.  "Thanks to the efforts made by our employees, we were able to work within the guidelines set forth by the County Commission and County Mayor and come up with a budget we could all agree upon without a loss of personnel and no cuts to programs and services," said Heath.  "However, as we look ahead to the 2010-2011 fiscal year we realize an even greater challenge may lie ahead."
