Under Wraps Blanket Drive
Published February 26, 2009
As the spring storm season nears, students at several Williamson County schools are using their free time to help potential storm victims. After witnessing the devastation caused by the tornado that struck Fairview in February of 2008, a Ravenwood High School student named Nate Kukowski came up with the idea for a program called Under Wraps.
The program allows students, parents and other community members to drop off gently-used blankets at the school. Those blankets are then dry-cleaned and taken to the local chapter of the Red Cross which distributes them to storm victims. Last year, the students collected approximately 200 blankets. This year, they hope to gather at least a thousand.
The Under Wraps blanket drive will continue through April. If you have any gently-used blankets you would like to donate, you can drop them off at either Ravenwood High School or Woodland Middle School.
