Sign up for Parent Connection

Published September 25, 2008

More than 5,000 Williamson County parents and students have already signed up for an exciting new program that allows parents to monitor their children's academic progress.  It's called ParentConnection and it replaces K12Planet which has been used by Williamson County Schools the past two years.  Administrators urge parents to take advantage of this incredible resource.

Williamson County Schools Instructional Technology Coordinator Belinda Moss says ParentConnection will allow parents to view their children's assignments, grades and attendance online.  "A special feature will allow parents to set triggers to inform them of certain events," says Moss.  "For instance, if a student's grade dips below a certain level, the parent will receive automated notification."  Trigger notifications can be sent as email or even a text message to a cell phone.

Another benefit to ParentConnection is that grade information is visible to the parent as soon as the teacher enters it into the grade book.  Starting now, parents of students in six through twelfth grades will be able to use ParentConnection to view their children's assignments, grades and attendance.  Parents of elementary students will be able to use the system in the spring.  Each middle and high school is currently in the process of communicating the steps for requesting accounts to their school community.

For anyone wishing to sign up for ParentConnection, just contact the individual school and ask for the GradeSpeed administrator or go to http://www.wcs.edu/staff/Instructional_Tech/gradespeed.htm and look at the ParentConnection information.
