Ravenwood Educator Named JA Teacher of Year

Published August 28, 2008

Ravenwood High School teacher Amanda McGaugh was among several community members to be honored recently by Junior Achievement of Middle Tennessee.  The non-profit organization named McGaugh its Teacher of the Year for 2008.  McGaugh, who teaches Business Academy at Ravenwood, has hosted numerous JA programs in her high school classrooms for the past five years.  “I’ve used JA in business economics, marketing and career management success," says McGaugh.  "The curriculum JA provides works hand in hand with the state standards for those courses."

McGaugh was nominated out of 1,000 volunteers and teachers involved with JA throughout Middle Tennessee.  The organization says McGaugh was selected for the award based on her involvement in JA, her commitment to the education of today’s youth and her passion to carry out the mission of the organization.  She was honored Saturday, August 9, at Greer Stadium during a Nashville Sounds game.
