PTO/PTA Meetings

Published November 6, 2008

Increasing communication with parents is always a top priority for Williamson County Schools.  With that in mind, Director of Schools Dr. Rebecca Sharber is meeting with the PTO and PTA presidents from each of the district's 37 schools this week.  The semi-annual gathering began November 3, with the final meeting scheduled for Friday, November 7.

The meetings, which are divided according to grade level, are held each semester at the central office, giving Dr. Sharber an opportunity to answer questions and address issues surrounding growth, construction and the budget.  Some of the topics discussed at the most recent meetings included new report cards at the elementary level and communication tools such as Parent Connection

Not only are the gatherings a chance for the incoming PTO/PTA presidents to meet the director of schools, but it also gives them an opportunity to get to know each other.  "It just brings us together in harmony," said Oak View PTA President Dawn Brown.  "I learned a lot from their questions that I never would have thought to ask."
