Open Zoned Schools for 2009-2010

Published January 29, 2009

Open zoned schools have been established by the Williamson County Board of Education for the 2009-2010 school year.  Three schools will be open zoned.  Three separate calls outs will be made tonight to families who are eligible.

Brentwood Middle School will be open zoned to 50 students from across the district with first priority given to Grassland Middle School students.  Every student wishing to go out of zone must apply by May 15.  However, students from schools other than Grassland Middle will not be considered to go to Brentwood Middle until after the May 15 deadline.

Centennial High and Page High will be open zoned next year with Centennial open to 25 freshmen, 25 sophomores and 25 juniors, and Page will be open to 75 freshmen only.  First priority at both schools will be given to students zoned to Independence and Ravenwood students.  However, every student wishing to go out of zone must apply by May 15.  Students who apply to Centennial or Page before May 15 from schools other than Independence and Ravenwood will not be considered until after the May 15 deadline.

To take advantage of open zoning, parents must follow specific directions that can be found on our website at www.wcs.edu.  Select Parent Resources, and then select Enrollment for Students.  Forms and directions are on the web site today, but the out of zone application process will not begin until Monday, February 2.  Parents may obtain the out of zone form at any of the schools involved or from the web.  Parents must complete the request form which includes obtaining the signatures of both the zoned school principal and the out of zone school principal.
