The students who make up the Hot Shots Jump Rope Team have plenty to be proud of. This month, they won the first-place overall trophy at a jump rope tournament in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The group, which is only in its third year, competed against seven teams from across the nation in events like single rope freestyle, four team speed relay and double dutch speed relay.
The Hot Shots Jump Rope Team consists of children in grades two through six who attend either Hunters Bend Elementary or Grassland Middle School. "The purpose of the performance team is to give jumpers the opportunity to have experience in performing at local and state events," said Hot Shots Coach Lisa Arnold. "It's also a great way to promote health and fitness throughout the community."
Members must maintain a B in all subjects as well as exhibit a positive behavior at school. Jumpers attend intensive summer camps as well as clinics and mini competitions throughout the year.
