High School Late Start Days

Published August 28, 2008

Late start days have begun in Williamson County high schools.  Teachers have the opportunity to meet weekly to collaborate and discuss teaching methods.  Each high school will have late start days allowing teachers to have planning time with each other.  Ravenwood High School successfully piloted this program during the second semester of 2006.  The Williamson County School Board approved the program to be implemented district-wide.

"The purpose of late start days is to allow high school teachers to have some common planning time," says Williamson County High Schools Director Dan Hampton.  "We feel this is one of the best things any high school can do, and we are very appreciative to be allowed to continue this program for another year."

On the late start days, the school day will start 45 minutes later than the normal start time. Buses will run on a normal schedule, and if students arrive at school at the normal start time on these days, they will be appropriately supervised.

The days each school is participating is as follows:

Brentwood High - Monday
Centennial High - Monday
Fairview High - Monday
Franklin High - Monday
Independence High - Monday
Middle College High - Wednesday
Page High - Wednesday
Ravenwood High - Monday
