BHS Graduate's Artwork Earns National Exposure

A recent graduate of Brentwood High School is getting some national exposure for her artwork. A drawing by Brentwood graduate Miette Bretschneider was recently selected to appear in the 2008-2009 travelling exhibition of AP Studio Art.
This year, 155,000 pieces of art were submitted to the College Board to be scored and potentially awarded college credit. Of the 155,000 pieces of art, 30 works were selected to be a part of an exhibition which will travel nationally.
Miss Bretschneider's drawing incorporated
coffee stains as an integral part of the composition. “The use of coffee in the artwork caught our eye," said Dave Escoffery, member of the Educational Testing Service selection committee. "It was a creative and unusual presentation, and effectively contrasted the skilled drawing technique of the student."
Miss Bretschneider will also have a drawing featured in the Young Tennessee Artists: 2008 Advanced Placement Studio Art exhibition which opens at the Frist Center for the Arts on September 12. Miette was the student of Barbara Bullard at Brentwood High School. She will be entering the Honors Program at East Tennessee State University this fall.
