Autism Support Group
Published November 6, 2008
You are not alone. That is the driving point behind a new support group for people in the Spring Hill community. Living, Loving and Learning Together with Autism is a community-centered group dedicated to offering support and education for people who know someone living with autism.
Longview Elementary School Principal Dr. Jonathan Ullrich is one of the organizers. He says the meetings will give attendees a chance to learn more about autism and meet other families dealing with the same challenges. "This will be a place where people can share their stories, feelings, advice, and questions with others on this puzzling journey."
The support group will hold its inaugural meeting Thursday, November 13, from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Longview Elementary School. "The biggest thing we want to do is invite anyone interested in attending," said Ullrich. "That includes parents, teachers, therapists, family members and friends."
In the future, organizers say they hope to work with a group that will offer on-site child care. As for Dr. Ullrich, he says he's excited about the possibilities that lie ahead. "We don't know where this will lead, but we hope to find success."
Longview Elementary School is located at 2929 Commonwealth Drive in Spring Hill. For additional information, email autismsupportgroup@gmail.com.
