The Kingfield Poet

Published October 25, 2007

A Williamson County Schools employee is making a name for herself with poetry. In addition to working as a bus attendant for Grassland Middle and Fairview Elementary Schools, Judy King also writes poems. Known as the Kingfield Poet, King has had several works published including a poem called Spirit of the Wall, which was inspired by the Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial Wall in Washington D.C.

As a result of her work, King has been asked to attend several patriotic events in New York and Washington D.C. She will attend ceremonies in New York for the 121st birthday of the Statue of Liberty. King will then travel to our nation’s capital to attend the Rolling Thunder National Convention and the Twenty-fifth Anniversary of the Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial Wall.

The events start in late October and will continue through Veteran’s Day. King will read her poem Spirit of the Wall on November 6 and November 11. She will also read some of the names on “The Wall” -- the fourth time in its history all the names will have been publicly read.
