Students Receive Honors Awards

Published May 8, 2008

Two Williamson County students are among those selected as Tennessee Honors Program award winners by the Tennessee Department of Education.  They include Sara Faradji, a junior at Brentwood High School, and Jomya Lei, a junior at Ravenwood High School.

The Honors Program directs attention to students whose achievements have been outstanding and encourages excellence among all high school students.  Each student is challenged to research a given issue, develop a hypothesis supported by evidence, and draw a conclusion.  Sara chose to research the social studies topic, whereas Jomya focused on math.

Grade point averages, programs of study, extra-curricular participation, accolades, and the independent research weigh heavily in the decisions of the judges.  Both students will be honored next month in the Student Spotlight section.
