The accolades just keep pouring in for Independence High School sophomore Kathy Kroeger. The cross country runner won the National Cross Country Championship in San Diego, California, on December 9. She outraced the competition with a time of 17 minutes, 29 seconds. Not only did Kroeger win, she broke a 20-year-old course record and was the first qualifier from the South to become the National Champion in 20 years! Congratulations to Kathy and her coach Kristen Reames.
