Fairview High Students Design Company Website

Some Fairview High School students are helping a local sleep lab make sure people can get a good night's sleep. Students in the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) organization created the website for Dream Away Sleep Labs as part of a project for Christy Brumit's health sciences class. "I got the idea for the website talking with some friends who had recently opened a sleep lab," says Brumit. "They had recently attended a conference where they discussed the importance of new health care facilities getting their name out in the public, and at the same time delivering a service."
Dream Away Sleep Labs provides state of the art evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders. The center also provides educational opportunities for patients, doctors, and the community to increase the awareness of sleep disorders.
Creating the site not only provided the students an opportunity for some hands on website design, they learned how to overcome business obstacles as well. Dream Away Sleep Labs had difficulty scheduling their procedures, and in turn, had to turn some patients away due to conflicts. "I presented the real world problem in class and they came up with an online scheduling idea," says Brumit. "We are currently investigating how to do this. The lab was really impressed with what we were able to accomplish, and we are discussing doing similar things with others in the community."
The students will maintain the site with updates and new information as needed. CLICK HERE to visit the Dream Away Sleep Labs website designed by the HOSA chapter at Fairview High School.
