Published October 12, 2006

Congratulations are in order for Fairview Elementary School which has just been named a State Title I Distinguished School. Fairview Elementary was selected in the Exceptional Student Performance category. The school will receive a $1,000 award and be recognized at a State Board meeting in Spring 2007.

"The staff at Fairview Elementary School works so diligently to see that each child succeeds. They truly care about this school and the families represented," says Principal Ann Lewis. "Our PTO has also stepped forward with student and teacher support in many ways. Words cannot truly express how proud I am for the teachers, their classes, and the parents, that our school has been recognized with this honor."

To receive the award, Fairview Elementary submitted a packet demonstrating the school's success in several areas; submitted achievement data for the last three years; submitted a one page school description; and submitted a listing of recent awards and recognitions. Fairview Elementary School will now serve as a model for other schools around the state and the nation.

Congratulations to the Fairview Elementary School students, teachers, and parents!
