Collaborations Leads to New Poster's in RHS Media Center

A collaboration between Ravenwood High School's media center and arts department hopes to draw more students to reading. Graphic arts students in Charlotte Ayers' class created posters representing the addition of thousands of books to the Ravenwood media center. Students chose books they had read or wanted to read as the basis for their posters. The slogan "16,000 Books, 16,000 Choices" was also created during the collaboration. These creative posters now hang in Ravenwood's media center.
"I love the posters because they are a visual attraction to kids who may or may not read," says Ravenwood Librarian Cindy McCormick. "Our students see the posters and want to check out the book.
"Librarians often collaborate with history, English, and science, but not so much with tech classes," adds McCormick. "At Ravenwood, our technology and business departments are very strong supporters of the library so we really appreciate working with them."
Congratulations to Amanda Sledge whose poster "Stiff" won a gold medal at the Regional Scholastic Art contest. Her poster will go on to a national competition.
